Title: Epoxy for attaching the metal fittings to the Wing Spars
Post by: Kiwi55 on October 08, 2015, 06:39:23 AM
I'm ready to finally attach the metal spar and fuselage fittings to my wings.
I know the fittings are both bolted and glued in place.
I have use T-88 for all construction so far.
So is T-88 the correct epoxy to attach the metal fittings to the wood spar?
I heard Leonard mention the use of "West Epoxy" in a video, but that was not specifically in relation to the metal fittings.
Is "West Epoxy" superior to T-88, especially when gluing metal to wood?

One other question, I have painted my metal fittings with rattle can Epoxy enamel. Any issues with this?

Thanks...Paul

You should remove the paint on the back side where you will epoxy it too the wood and clean it with acetone or sometimes i just use gas.

Here is a link to the west system.  http://westsystem.com/ss/six10-thickened-epoxy-adhesive/

T88 does not say it is for metal or at least my box does not, just says "and other materials".

Thanks, I thought that might be the case. Paul
