My XL build is getting to the final stages, which has me thinking obout getting some flight training since I am a zero time pilot. I am looking for some advice on the most appropriate training. There is a flight school near me that operates with piper Cubs, I have heard others say the legal eagle flies like a cub so it's seems like a good fit to me? Any thoughts from you pilots out there?

Well XL-C-100,
You're on the right track. I am with the belief that at bear minimum you get at least 6 to 10 hours in a cub or champ. To the point of actually soloing and with a crosswind. Once you master that you are in pretty good shape. My thoughts anyway,
Scott J.

I agree with Scott. Learn stalls and landings. Very similar flying except out in great outdoors

Lessons - schmessons... Here's all you need to know about flying:
- Aim for the blue.
- If you're headed towards the green... TURN!
Shot of whiskey for confidence. What could go wrong!

As a zero time pilot myself, for good stick and rudder skills I joined a soaring club. I've got 60 hrs total time,40 solo. With a few hours in a friends cub,I think I'll be ready. Eagle should be ready to fly this next summer, hope i enjoy flying it as much I do soaring!

I have been flying RC for a while, and not I have been flying with a guy in his two seater quicksilver, i have done some cross country well about 30 minutes each way from airfield to airfield, with a few landings and takeoffs, but will get more and more flight time as the build progresses.

thanks for all the responses, I think I will save up a few bucks to get some lessons in the cub and see how my comfort level is.
