Is Sam Buchanan's page gone? it was some good information.
-
Unfortunately it appears to be gone. I've been trying for the last couple of weeks to find it to no avail. He does have a new web page, Sam Buchanan's Fokker D VII page. While it doesn't help LE builders, it's interesting none the less.

WOW! Not a mention of the Legal Eagle he built :emoji_u1f624: What a disgrace!
WELL, After reading his website on the Fokker, he DID mention the Eagle a few times in passing...
AT LEAST the EAA Webinar is still available: Building the Milholland Legal Eagle XL (http://www.eaavideo.org/video.aspx?v=2634527737001)

Maybe there is a server issue ? Sam let us know !
-
I had a look at his site and the server is fine, looks like the contents of the Legal Eagle XL folder on the site have been deleted. bit of shame As I go back often and look at his techniques and finishes even for my DE project and general knowledge gathering. He must have a logical reason for doing it.
Any chance of putting it back Sam?

An ode to the lost photos of XL-58:
You would like them.
You will see.
Could you find them
in a tree?
I would not, could not in a tree.
Not on the web! You let me be.
I could not find them in a box.
I could not find them with a fox
I could not find them in a house
I could not find them with a mouse
I could not find them here or there.
I could not find them anywhere.
I could not find them due to spam.
They’re gone forever, Sam Buchan!

The server is fine but the site has been retired for valid reasons which include copyright and liability issues currently in play. Please do not request copies of the photos because your request will be denied/ignored for the above reasons. Please respect the decision to retire the site.
I hope the Eagle community found the site to be a good resource for the six years it was available. But we move on...best wishes to all Eaglers on your aviation pursuits.

Sam,
Very understandable. Sorry to hear you're dealing with issues, hope it works out. Thanks for providing us with the information you have in the past. Great looking Fokker by the way.
-
What a shame, a bad apple spoils the whole basket. I really enjoyed the site, it was a real inspiration.
-
Hey Sam thanks for the reply,
appreciate and respect your decision to retire the site and sorry you have had issues, thanks for the time you had it available and the input you gave to all of us on the forum.
much appreciated and good look with your next project
regards Paul

Sounds more like sour grapes.... " Please do not request copies of the photos because your request will be denied/ignored for the above reasons."

I have every page of Sam's LEXL website saved in pdf form. I would share it with anyone who wants it, but only if Sam was relieved of any liability associated with it. Does anyone know if he would be liable if he isn't the one distributing it?

Perhaps a better question would be "Are you willing to violate copyrights by duplicating and distributing an author's published work without permission?" Think about it.
I have no interest in being difficult about this matter, only request as stated above that the Eagle community respect my decision to retire *my* site. I have given tirelessly to the Eagle community for six years via web publishing, webinars, video production, printed publications and scores of private email requests for information. To see my service rewarded by efforts within the Eagle community to subvert my decision to retire a personal website is.......disappointing.
Best wishes to all.
-
I absolutely wouldn't, Sam. That's why I asked. I'm sorry for whatever problems may have been caused for you. I have benefited greatly from all your work, but I promise to keep it to myself.

Thank you, Will, I appreciate your considerateness.
Warmest regards.

Sam:
This just a thought regarding those still following the web Links to your B-58 web pages... Would you consider putting a redirect at the old web location to http://eaglersnest.com (http://eaglersnest.com/) as a courtesy to information seekers?... Your contributions here and to the Eagle community are significant and most appreciated...
Gratefully,
Steve

Excellent suggestion, Steve, consider it done:

I only just discovered the EAA video Sam did and was excited to find more info about the build. However, I was quickly disappointed to find the site was already down. I haven't begun the process of building yet but, being an engineer, I like to study about said process first. My wife says I suffer from paralysis by analysis. Perhaps she's right and that is exactly why I need to build this plane. For the sheer joy of flying. Thanks Sam for what I did see. You were an inspiration.
