Thought I'd make this a new topic rather than leaving it as a hijack of Murray's thread.
The lost tool problem gets worse when your kid uses your stuff and is even less organized than you are. I quit looking for stuff pretty early on figuring the Kid hid it somewhere. Then he gets home from school and insists he didn't use it. Then I have to start all over again...

My solution to the misplaced by the kid lost tool problem was to get him his own tool box, and require permission to use mine after that.

Reminds me of a story my Dad told me many years ago. He though us kids were borrowing tools from the shed and not returning them. Then one day my old man ( and I mean that with the utmost respect) comes by and says.... well I found my tools.. Seems his favorite three legged German Shepard was picking them up and moving them under a pine tree hidden by the branches. That was the Shadows favorite hiding place. Some times you misplace the tools, sometimes the kids borrow them. Lord knows I'm guilty of that as well as his favorite Shepard..
