Title: Dacron
Post by: joecnc2006 on March 21, 2016, 02:39:04 PM
Is the 60" width of Dacron sold by Aircraft Spruce wide enough for the wings and having a min. of 1" overlay?
I see the 1.8oz sells for 4.35 a yard, not a bad price at all. I know its certified, but most see it has very little deformities, and for na ultralight and low speed I think it should be ok.

what length did people get? I think 10yrd per wing per side, and another 12 yards for the tail. front fuse sections?
so thats 40yrd +1 2yrd * $4.35 = $226.20. How much did you use?

Joe, I asked Les Homan how much he used on his red XL and he said he used a little less than 24 yards so that is what I ordered. I have not covered mine yet though. I can't tell you for sure if that is enough.  The 60 inch width looks like it will be plenty wide enough for overlaps. My wing came out to 54 and 1/2 inches front to back. The peelply is not certified in the 1.8 oz dacron.
