Title: fabric repair
Post by: XL-C-100 on April 19, 2016, 09:40:01 AM
Wondering if anyone has experience with patching a cut in fabric that was sealed with latex paint? I haven't even flown yet and I put a small nick in my horizontal stabilizer :(.

What system did you use on the covering?
You should be able to sand it down slightly to get to the sealant again depending on the system you used. Then maybe use the 3M fastbond to add a patch to the tear or rip with some pinked tape. depending on size, you should use a minimum of a 1" overlap all around.

It is a small cut (less than an inch long). I used latex primer and latex paint. I was thinking I would scuff up the area around the cut then put a patch down and use latex paint to glue it on?
