Title: Aluminium strips for seats

What are people doing for the strips of aluminium for the seats? Cutting them by hand doesnt sound like fun. Are they available for purchase as precut strips?. Otherwise a shear might be best but I dont know anyone with one big enough.

Paul, try a sheet metal shop. Karl,s sheet metal shop may be able to help you. They are located in Jackson I think.

I cut my strips with tin snips - there will be a sharp edge that you will need to keep track of and face down in the seat... The Eagles have enough pop rivets to warrant a harbor freight air driven puller... Let the length of the long pieces run wild and trim off...

I clamped to may table top the aluminum, a piece of angle, (for straight edge) and used a box cutter with sharp blade, (nice sharp point on it) made straight, beautiful cut and passing a file over sharp edge removed it and they were good to go.

I'm with Les there... You can scribe it with a good utility knife/box cutter and fold & it breaks right off.. File/sand the edges smooth and you get nice uniform strips!

Thanks, I'll try the box cutter method. Sounds easy :)...
