Title: DE WING ENDPLATES
Post by: John Reinking on September 23, 2016, 06:36:42 PM
Maybe I'm going blind, looking for ply size for the wing endplates.   1/8" ?    Also, have any of you used Hoerner tips (for example) and if so, can you refer me to information on how to build them?   The ole Champ had them and wondered if they'd be a useful option for the Eagle. Know there's been chatter about this but offhand can't find those discussions.    Thanks fellas.

I know Scott Johnson had Horner Tips on his Legal Eagle.... At AV  '06 (I believe) there came a rainstorm and they filled up with water! Said his plane was heavy with them without the water and took them off and replaced with the original tips shown on the plans with no noticeable change in flight characteristics.. The may look sexy but they don't help at our flying speeds. Don't waste your time!!

That pretty much was the conclusion I remembered about them on here.   No, I'm sticking with Leonard's design.   Was just curious.  Thanks.
