Harbor Freight has an air / hydraulic rivet tool for about $70. Has anyone bought and used one of these ? Any comments to its value...is it a decent tool for what we need ? Thanks....

No more pop rivets than on the Legal Eagle not required, Easy to do by hand with the hardware store pop rivet tool

I do have the harbor freight air rivet gun .It worked good for the 3/16 stainless rivets on the rans s6 that i had , I used it on my XL tail but it's a luxury.

Thanks for that, Dale. I'm right handed and my little finger is in a splint and may be for some time. It's a PIA at the best of times and pulling rivets even with two hands now seems awkward and still aggravates the finger in the splint.

Hi Guys,
I bought a Harbor Frieght pop rivet puller and is it working very well. I don't care for the side air connection tho. Leonard

I had one from HF that failed after about 100 rivets, HF replaced it but I bought one from ATS that seems to be much better quality for not much more. It's going strong after over 500 rivets on a Onex.
Cheers

X3skier which model did you get from ATS please ?

I got one of the Harbor Freight air rivet pullers a few years back. It had a bad o-ring and leaked oil right out of the box. Once that was fixed up it worked for a handful of rivets until the head jammed up on it. I spent more time fixing the thing than using it. I still have it hanging on the wall, but truth be told I usually just hand pull the rivets, or if possible use solid rivets instead of pulling out the HF pile of junk I got. I'm sure one from ATS or just about anywhere else would have been a better investment. At a Sonex Aircraft workshop they said they had great luck with them (the HF ones) so perhaps I was just the lucky sucker to get the one made out of all the reject parts..
