So, I'm ordering probably less then 10 pounds of aluminum from ACS to build the vertical/horizontal stabilizers which is a little over $200. The shipping comes to $160! LOL.
I called ACS and they said I need to keep the tubing to 6 foot lengths and the sheet aluminum to 2'x4' to be able to ship UPS.
I think 6 footers will cover the 5/8" and 3/4" individual length requirements (can anyone confirm this?) but I'm not so sure about the 3/8" tube for the trailing edge of the rudder and elevator. And does anyone know the full (actual) length of each piece of 3/8" needed?
Also, the leading edge of the vertical stabilizer, is that 1/2" x .035 4130 steel? That would be roughly 55" -65" of 6061-T6 I don't need to buy?

Pete, do you know that 6061-T6 is the same...anywhere, meaning if you can get this locally, and I don't know why you would not be able to, then by all means do so. Now 4130N is a different story..as few have it.
and 6061-T3 or 6063-T6 is not the same. But worth a look at what is present in your area. There are other options, as I can and have bought plenty of alum in full sheets, rolled. not this 2'x 4' stuff. UPS will ship larger.
