Title: Engine Instrument
Post by: pilotgil on September 19, 2017, 12:28:15 PM
Hi I am designing a new engine instrument for light aircraft. I am looking for a VW-powered light aircraft owner that would be interested in letting me take some electrical measurements for the tach pickup. I live in the San Francisco Bay area but can travel to get the measurements. See the attached picture. This one in the picture I designed has been in my Drifter for about two years working very well. It has dual EGT, RPM, Water Temp and Pressure (it can easily be oil also), amps, volts, and an hour meter. I have tested these on Continental, Lycoming, and Rotax but not VW, yet.  I just need one person and would be willing to give them a unit for their trouble if it works on the VW. Thanks.

I think that is a great plan you have in mind for testing, and should be able to find a taker.

your airspeed, is that a standard off the shelf item with such low markings?  Looks really good for the slow birds.  So if you were coming in at a stabalized 30mph, does it stay pretty steady?

The mechanical is iffy below 35 or so. But I also have my own digital airspeed which works great to 20. 2nd from the left.
