Title: What I did with my 2220 mag and 8mm plug wires....
Post by: Bugsmasher on October 11, 2017, 04:30:51 PM
Seems this is a secret thing of how to safely perform the task. This is what I did. No testing as of yet... but have faith the wires will not come out easily. They are Taylor solid strands of copper core wire. Found it cheapest to buy a pair of single wire repair kits...Taylor Cable 45306 8mm Pro Wire Coil Wire Repair Kit . I used heat shrink to secure an AC refrigeration O ring to create a lock for the wire itself...please excuse the crude drawings. Should be self explanatory. The black O ring came for the full vw gasket set. The aluminum bushing can be machined easy enough...trid to save weight even fairing the brass ferrule. Topped the ends off with a little grey silicone by the slick spring terminals that were robbed off the original wires. Opened a hole with a straight pin and inserted the spring's nail. Any suggestions of how to improve this are welcomed. May or may not be what is considered OK or safe....just is how I have done up the ends on my unit. I did take Weasel's mod on the impulse and it triggers right on the 26 deg notch. Should be as easy to start as the Champ.
I only have 4 major components left beside a bunch of small items. Things are getting close to being in one pile!!!
