Hi All: I have a chance to buy a LE-XL minus a motor.
Does anyone know how well a Culver V-Twin will work on these birds??
I already own one, with 25 hours on it.
The LE-XL is new also, or incomplete.
thanks

Gene and Larry Smith of Valley engineering and Culver Props fame tested their Big Twin version of that engine first on a 900 lb dune buggy, then on an air boat and when they decided it was reliable, the first airplane they flew behind it on was the Legal Eagle...
Pic below is from this web page http://www.culverprops.com/big-twin.php (http://www.culverprops.com/big-twin.php).

Does anyone have first hand knowledge of this combination?
or seen one fly.

The Smiths have taken their YouTube videos down of it, but the Hart Aero guy has some of the same plane. He apparently acquired it from the guy who bought it from the Smiths.
The Smiths bought the airframe from the 1/3 corvair originator Fletcher Burns...
Google is your friend.

I forgot who's wing design is used in Fletcher's "XL" but it is NOT Leonard's Fletcher bought the wings and built the fuselage and tail from plans. check the strut location in the picture, attaches to a tube spar at the leading edge. Just came to me , wings are from a Delta Honcho, getting old really sucks.
