Title: Plans availability
Post by: xporter on May 24, 2018, 01:55:30 AM
Hi All
Considering a build. I have sent an email to Leonard to confirm availability of plans but nothing has come back from him.
If I do as the web site says and send a money order by mail will the plans come back?
Looks like a great Aircraft.
Has anyone TIG welded one? That will be my process unless strongly advised otherwise.
Regards Xy

I would place the order without worry and wait for the plans. I don't think he's a typical brick and mortar business. I suspect he prints a set of plans when an order comes to him.

Good luck and enjoy the forum.

Leonard is not a fly by night operation.  If you send him the money he will deliver.  I have been a member of this web site for ten years and no one has been cheated.  In fact just the opposite he has been generous to a fault.

The folks have covered the plans - no worries.  As far as Tig goes,  I can find 6 guys that prefer gas welding, and 6 that prefer TIG,  and end up with a dozen that like what they have done.  There is NO reason to NOT do one or the other.

Your clusters, with either method done right will be super strong.

Your email probably got buried in his inbox,  or went to the spam folder.   Also I have a feeling Leonard is not that crazy about typing...

Try the phone number from his web site.

I sent for XL plans recently and had them in about seven days. I wouldn't worry about Leonard. He gets more done than most of us who are 30 to 40 years younger than him.

there are 1277 members here . Most have purchased plans. None of us have been ripped off.

Thanks for the feedback everyone.
I didn't for a second think there was a scam afoot, just wanted to ask the question.
Here in Australia most of our small aviation suppliers have dried up and it's very difficult to get information or parts etc. even if web sites are still active.
I'm glad this is not the case in the US.  I look forward to getting suck right into what I think is the most elegant little ultralight around.
Thanks for having me in your group.
