Title: original aluminum aerovee hub
Post by: Flyguyeddy on November 30, 2018, 03:33:52 PM
i have an original 1850 aerovee electro-x conversion engine that has never been ran.  i have dismantled it (it sat forever in a hangar upside down and was filthy) and im looking to potentially use the hub it came with.  has anyone used an aluminum propeller hub with success?  i see that aerovee is using a steel one these days.

thoughts?

Before I made a decision, I would read up on the fatigue resistance to vibration - aluminum versus steel. The big issue with a 1/2 VW is vibration, much more acute than the 4-cylinder VW. I think you will find that steel is the winner for safety, in this application.
