Title: XL vs Legal Eagle Fuselage Dimension
Post by: Kamcoman77 on December 22, 2019, 10:29:53 AM
I know the XL fuselage is longer overall than the standard Eagle. My XL plans show 21-1/4" between Sta 2 & Sta 3 along the fuselage sides. Can anyone tell me if the standard Eagle has the same dimension, or is it shorter?

Thank you. So only 1/4" difference.

I believe the biggest difference is with the width between the two - 19/20 inch versus the 24 on XL

Most builders don't catch this as the prototype is built to 24" wide but my drawings state that 24" is the MAX width, not necessary to build it that wide unless you want/need to.   John

Pretty neat how you ghost from the engine to the seat Steve. Seriously though, any suggestions for a guy who's 6' 4"? I've contemplated raising the wing slightly, like 2-3" for head room?

Leonard approves raising the top tubeto provide headroom. Have built fuselages for pilots 6'5" before that were long in the torso.

JohnB, have you had to modify the seat placement at all for us taller guys? like move it back or lower it?

The seat is a bit more complex,  first I move the rudder pedals forward an inch,    if that won't fix it station one goes forward an inch plus another inch on the pedals.   If the pilot STILL can't make that fit the wing moves forward an inch as well as seat back moves back an inch.    Only had to do that once,  guy was 6'5" and long in the legs.
You CAN lower the seat by building the alum straps longer as well. Just be careful you cleat the torque tube.  For the longer legged guys consider building to full 24" width to make entry easier
