Title: cutting/welding heads
Post by: Theodore on September 23, 2020, 07:00:41 AM
I need help with cutting & welding heads i have four sets of heads so i can make some mistakes and toss 'em.
cutting in half is no sweat, it's cutting the scrap head for the parts to weld back on good side.
I have not a mill, friend has nice horizontal metal band saw,  have "Carr Twin" plans also BetterHalf plans.
I'm very visual(pictures speak a thousand words)
Thanks
Theo

I bought one rebuilt head and cut it to make both 1/2 heads. (http://home.insightbb.com/~dannyjoe/Enginepics.htm)  I cut the rocker box pieces I needed off a junk head.

Leonard uses a roll pin to keep the rocker shaft from turning.  Scott Cassler welds a "carrier" to the side of the rocker box to hold the end of the shaft which I consider superior.

I don't know how Carr does it...

Did you look at the pics in the link I sent in the last post?

What is the exact search string you enter..?  I can enter that search and send you that output so you can print it and mark off the ones you have read.

It is easier for me to send you the output than explain to how to get the screen shot.
