Sounds like a excellent time for a "reverse engineer" to get at it, if such items are in demand and profitable. The answer to the latter two would certainly have to be figured out FIRST.
There certainly have many products to fall under the "seemed like a good idea at the time" only to find out that there was simply not enough demand or profit.
Best of success

They have abandoned several engines. I am not sure how many they have brought to market and walked away from.

yes, indeed, the ones I remember most were the first three 2 cylinder engines... Please correct me if I'm wrong, but every year for many years they would come with one of the three engines, and I am not sure if there ever was that flew at Oshkosh (without a problem) They always worked, till they didn't, I guess.

I was hoping to put one of these on an LE one day. I guess if they so readily abandon their engine designs instead of expanding their business to handle the increased demand, then they aren't someone you really want to rely upon for long term support or a well refined product. Sounds like a terrible business model and risky for the buyers.

I heard they were accepting orders through the end of October. Figured I'd get one even though I don't need it for almost a year. Price had gone up considerably. Now it's a $10,000 engine that will soon be out of production. No thanks.

Right or wrong, I call this the Bede effect, where the builders/pilots (us) want something so bad, that soon funds get spent, dreams get made, and orders made. (read-pay before the product is in hand)
At least with forums like this... things get talked over a bit before major funds get spent.
Best of success.
