Title: Soaking or steaming 1/4” strips for wing rib
Post by: Shay King on February 26, 2021, 05:30:48 AM
Is everyone soaking or steaming and pre-bending the 1/4” square strips for the top of the wing rib?
I’m still waiting for my aircraft quality wood to arrive from JB but practicing with hardware store strips would suggest it’s not necessary.

You are right.  :) I found soaking the wing and (especially) aileron leading edges with hot wet towels helpful, though.

The 1/4" strips do not need to be steamed or soaked. They take the curve easily.
