Title: jury struts
Post by: DA Miller on July 10, 2024, 07:14:44 PM
Chuck, I've finally finished my wing struts and am now looking at how to attach the jury struts to the wing struts.  I did a search on "jury" and got some good pics and ideas. On p41 of your builders log and also on p42 of a short flight of Bullit I noticed that the cross tube between the wing struts was missing. If that cross tube is of little or no value its omission will be a nice weight saving and also simplify the attachment of the vertical pieces. Will you please share your thinking on this ?  Thanks,  Possum

Ok, I've seen homebuilts with and without the cross tube. I thought it would be a PITA to crawl underneath it to get in and out, so left it off thinking I could always add it if I saw/felt any vibration. I haven't and I haven't.  :)

Thanks for the reply.  I neveer thought about the in/out of the cockpit issue. It's good news that you haven't had any adverse issues. The fact that you have sseen it both ways on other planes is a good input. thanks again :D
