I’ve made up a header tank for my XL. I just wanted to share.

Thanks for sharing. Do you think you'll get tired of that tank in your forward view? I do like the idea of a header, what is the capacity of it?

Thanks for the reply Brock. I’m not sure how much it’ll bother me. It wouldn’t be a big job to remove it and run directly from the wing tank. I like the idea of being able to use all the fuel in the wing and have a clear indication of what I have left right in front of me. It’ll hold 5 or 6 litres. Should be enough for 30+ minutes. Also, the instrument panel will partially obscure it and if I manage to get a Verner it’ll stick up in front too.

Your header tank looks first class! Nice setup. I decided to use a header tank, too. I found a 1.3-gallon plastic tank 3" thick by 11-1/2" long and 8" tall. I plan to mount it on the left side of my fuselage about where my knee may rub against it. It is clear enough to see the fuel level so I'm thinking I'll have around 30-minutes of flying if my main tank is empty.

That’s a tidy looking tank Keith. Will you vent it back to the wing tank?
I’m planning to route my fuel line as per the red line on your diagram below.

I may run a vent back to the main tank if flow testing shows I need it. I have a front outlet on my main tank that is sealed with an NPT plug.
