There are many threads on washout, they have all been a good read but most of them are several years old. So I wanted to ask anew. Is everyone still following the plans and building the wing flat then setting the washout later as described?
In my head is the ringing montra 'just follow the plans', 'just follow the plans'. Ha, I've always looked for alternate ways to do things. Usually follow the prescribed 'hard way to do it'. Just in my nature, so it seems.
What makes me want to buck the plans is two fold. One, twisting the wing after the nose ply is on has got to be hard on the ply (one reason for buckles). The other is twising the wing after the fabric is shrunk just seems counter productive.
I did/am consider/ing building flat, next seting washout on the airframe, then somehow gluing on the nose ply while the wing is twisted as well as doing the final fabric shrink at that time too. Well, I've mellowed with the years behind me and am happy to hear what the latest advice on this subject is.

You may be overthinking this.. :grin: It's easy to set washout on the last preassembly before cover.

'Over-Think' is what tiggers do bestist.
Build flat it is. Then worry about washout after initial rigging.
