Title: lemon drops
Post by: DA Miller on March 27, 2026, 03:25:37 PM
Kam, I'm about to start applying fabric to my tail feathers and I've ordered 2 qtrs. of "neutral " color 3M contact cement.  I remember you advising to add a few drops of lemon food coloring to make the glue more visible. How did that work out? Any problems? How many drops? Thanks for any help with this.  Possum

30 drops of yellow food coloring per quart of Fastbond. Came out pretty nice. I plan to paint fabric yellow.

Thank you Kam for that 30 drop input.  The 225 degree first shrink is also helpful./Your tailfeather fabric work looks great.  It matches the rest of your project. Thanks again,  Possum

Here is a photo showing how visible the Fastbond with yellow food coloring is without wiping it off. I painted on a 1" wide stripe of Fastbond prior to installing fabric rivets and 1" wide pinked tape over ribs.
