Title: Legal Eagle XL wood substitutes
Post by: Mr.always.fix.it on October 30, 2026, 10:17:06 PM
I know a few people have used the FAA circular for wood substitutes has anyone used Eastern Red Spruce for the build or Western Hemlock for wings ribs or Douglas Spur for Spar Caps?   With the huge markup on Sitka Spruce there are so many other options that are 1:1 substitutes. I am thinking of using Eastern Red Spruce as it meets the same criteria. I will have to test cutoffs per the FAA circular not a problem with my NDT background.
