It will be interesting to see how this project pans out:

There are some info tidbits that are relevant to our 1/2 VWs.
Sounds familiar:

Projected to be ~60hp at 2900 rpm but a bit heavier than the 1/2 VW.

I saw it run at Osh. It did sound familiar. Web site says 105 lbs. Also says $2995 for his kit, and the builder needs to add Continental O-200 parts, e.g.: cylinders, valves, accessory case, intake tubes and rubber connectors, bearings, gaskets, gears, lifters, pushrods, oil tank etc. Wonder what the "etc." will cost?
Looks good, though.

i got a tired O-200 here that needs a few parts so I've been watching barnstormers...the used parts are HIGH.
new mags are 1000+ each and harness 4oo or so. believe a new accessory case is around 800 or so and used ones are so high i'd just go with a new one. that way you know you got a tight oil pump gallery that will make pressure. etc etc etc. it'll be an expensive engine but i do like it. you could use it on a DE on a long mount and shed 50#. it look funky that way tho. the mufflers he used look like C150 ones. i got a couple here that i cut up making an open exhaust system for this SS-1. those muffs are heavy. i've seen those on barnstormers for 800 a pair. some less.
i like that dual ignition
