I have something to add, which may be helpful to some builders. As a retired airline A&P, many of the big-boys I worked on had jackscrew adjustments for the horizontal stabilizer. not uncommon at all, however,this would be really unique on a homebuilt. On one project I finished, the elevator back-pressure was pretty stiff and I did nt want to add some complex elevator trim " thingy", or bendable tabs on the trailing edge. I eventually hinged the rear attach point, and used some machinist "fine-thread,allthread", and a pivoting threaded block on the front. Granted, this was like killing a fly with a 12 ga.,however............with some messin around(and the fact that I needed some W&B tailweight, it worked out great. Sidenote, however, flying wires, or supports have to be adjusting accordingly. Far simpler solutions exist for sure.............but we like to tinker,huh? This blows the "KISS" principle out-of-the-water, but does allow the fine tuning of flight characteristics. Obviously, we arent going non-stop from Dallas to the U.K., but the closer I get to "hands-off flying at cruise...........the better I like it. I think everybody searches for the "sweet-spot". Love this design!!!!!!

I'm getting closer to hands off flying. I can use my leg to apply slight right aileron to hold up my lard butt on the left side of the plane! Otherwise, elevator trim is working fine at cruise speeds and I can level the wings usually with rudder.

rfeenstra..........How can I get hold of you email-wise?.Wanna pick ya brain on your build. The DE,CE models are so light, that the sensitivity is there alright. When I quit smoking (8yrs ago), I promptly gained 62 lbs, and anything Im in now (short of a 737,knows it). Low,slow is where its at for me,When I can get some CE plans, and start building, Im certain that this forum can keep me on the right heading.

OK, so I have a std Legal Eagle and as can be seen in my last video, My elevator spends a lot of it's time in a DOWN position... My Horizontal stab is already adjusted with the washers as far down as I can get it, I bought some new cable and am planning on building me some new support wires on the tail feathers with a bit more down incidence... I am sorry right now, I can't tell you where it is now, but I originally set it up with level with three thick washers on both top and bottom... NOW I am sure I only have one on the bottom but how many degrees or inches.... I have no idea but will report when I adjust later....
