hey folks.........got another question.........The CE I'm going to build will have an a65 engine, and some other added weight as well. On paved, (or smooth grass fields),does anybody feel that the Main landing gear needs reinforcement? An acquaintance, had some damage on his DE.......HOWEVER.........he did a lot of "mountain-flying" here in Idaho.........meaning,attempted landings on rough terrain . Several repairs were necessary. Of course, the normal caveats apply is stuff like this...........we ALL know somebody who can break an anvil!!!! Back to basic question...assuming "normal" pilot skill, and improved surfaces, do you have any issues with the MLG???(that arent self-induced)!!

I've always liked the Tuff 20" wheels on the LE for the smooth dirt and maintained grass fields that I frequent...
The big wheels have a sideload weakness and it pays to be where you can avoid conditions that include rough surfaces or sideloads on the gear - eventually something happens otherwise...
The Black Max gear that Leonard advocates for the XL is best for hard surfaces - works on the DE and has a lot of satisfied users - I especially admire the simple and robust parking brake feature of that gear...
The gear design on the DE is plenty strong as shown in the drawings...
