Title: Let's talk plywood!
Post by: buzzypeterson on December 21, 2014, 08:03:33 PM
Going to be ready to put on the spar web. Just wondering if I can buy plywood at the local boat building supply shop or if it's something special that has to come from a/c spruce?

Just my opinion, but I am not willing to use anything but aircraft grade materials for anything structural. My life depends on the structural integrity of my aircraft. That being said, good quality marine grade plywood would probably be OK for the spar web, but I am not an aeronautical engineer. Perhaps someone with engineering data could better answer this.

Marine ply has inner voids and inferior glue,  will not pass the mil spec boil test.

Do yourself a favor and get your plywood from Wicks or ACS...
