Title: XL A-30 Build Complete
Post by: Hugh Sistrunk on February 21, 2015, 03:55:51 PM
Ok, we are calling the build complete on XL A-30 - another notch on Leonard's Belt...as if he needs another one.  It was fun and a great experience.  Test Flights coming up next when the weather settles a bit - Looking forward to many hours of the 'Fix' from this little bird.  I have posted some pics in my gallery.... Proof - A piece a day and it will turn into an airplane :-)

Thanks Frank,
still got a bit of clean up on the paint details, just cosmetic, which is an ongoing thing anyway.

Congratulations Hugh!
What an incredible looking plane.
Posts like these further motivate me to build an LE-XL of my very own.

Very nice, Hugh.  I'm interested in seeing how those wings work out.  Be sure to take plenty of video to show to us.

Thanks everyone for the nice words on my build.  It was with the help, guidance and knowledge base of the other builders on this site that kept me energized to complete it... Lots of good folks on here and a gold mine of information.  Leonard's vision will continue to keep our eyes to the skies for years to come.

Hugh,
I forgot to ask if you rigged flapperon function into the full span ailerons?...

I did consider that option, but could not see any real advantage to that feature for the XL and it's flight envelope.

But, with the current rigging, that can always be experimented with at a later date.
