My question is Heater hose sufficient for mounting carbs, or are you guys using Mikuni boots?

I personally would not. A few days ago a friend with a Zenith with Jabiru engine was pondering how to connect his carb heat box to the carb, which is hard mounted to the engine. He was using SCEET hose, but reading his building manual, it said specifically NOT to use that type of flexible hose, since the lining could degrade and send bits of rubber into the carb. In this installation the hose only carried ambient and heated air, no gas mix.
In your case, the hose would carry gas/air mix, which would probably be detrimental to the hose material.
Many use a gasoline rated hose for the connection, and add safety wire connecting the carb to the intake so the carb cannot slide off the rubber hose connection.

Thanks Tom. I was suspect with the fuel going though.

I use Heater Hose between carb and intake but my carb and intake are pretty darn close to each other... Haven't had any problems...
My heads originally had flanges & I had used the Mukuni boots but they we too flexible and cracked letting in air between carb and intake... Not good! Cut the flanges off and then used the heater hose.... Carbs NOT flopping around now from vibration. Much better!!

Thanks Bob. I found some hose with the wire in it from the Marine industry that is used for exhaust/water.
Fits perfect in the style you describe and I am hoping to not have to make anti-vibe brackets like Les has.
One would think in the Land of 10,000 Snowmobiles parts would be easy to find. NOT. They all told me they'd have to
order the boots. I don't bother telling them everyone can these days. Thanks again.

Look at what Joe Spencer did.. He made some supports for his 1/2 VW that appear to work well.... Check the photo section both here and in the original Yahoo Group...
