CE Aileron Questions
« on: July 07, 2019, 04:55:47 PM »
On the CE aileron, are there two or three full ribs? My plans reference making 4 full ribs on page 89, yet on page 91 it says “The ends of the aileron have full sized aileron end ribs, two on the inboard end one outboard”.

Also, my plans don’t show much detail on the aileron spar construction. I know it is 1/8” ply but not much more. The DE plans have a detailed drawing of the aileron spar but I can’t find anything in my CE plans.

My other area of confusion is how long the aileron spar is. Does it go end rib to end rib, or does it end inboard of the torque tube block?

I spoke to Leonard today and got my questions answered. I thought I would share them here to help any other CE builders.

The ailerons each have three plywood end ribs. The inboard and outboard ribs are full ribs. The rib glued to the outboard face of the torque tube block is cut to but against the rear face of the aileron spar web.

The spar web spans from the torque tube block outboard face to the inside face of the outboard rib.
