Ready to start covering
« on: May 21, 2018, 05:25:36 AM »
Well it has taken way longer than I expected but I am finally ready to start covering. The fuselage and tail feathers are complete and painted.
The wings just need some wiring run, and all the controls are built. The only thing that still needs to be built is the engine mount. I'm going to use a Rotax 582 (at least to start) and I will pretty much completely assemble the plane then do a weight and balance. From there I can determine just how long the engine mount needs to be get the balance just right.

When you get ready to do the CG calculations read pg 10 and 11 from the FAA chapter on weight and balance starting with the subheading "shifting weight"...

Pdf attached below... FAA has a habit of moving documents to different URLs...

BTW if you backspace out some of the link you can get any of the chapters you might want...

https://www.faa.gov/regulations_policies/handbooks_manuals/aviation/phak/

I take "phak" to be short for pilots handbook of aeronautical knowledge.
