fuel tank behind seat?
« on: September 21, 2026, 02:57:14 PM »
Anyone done it in a LE or XL? Looks like 5 gal could be kept in front of the aft wing attach point, which should minimize CG change vs wing tank.

Building folding wings, so it would be nice(er) if fuel wasn't a concern when folding.

Thanks for any insights.

It sure would save the build time of a custom wing tank.  I'm curious about this too since my engine came with an electric pump.  I suppose the plane will have to be finished and weighed in order to figure out if it would work.  Every W/B is different.

Just saw your reply with the two seat-back tanks; for some reason it wasn't showing up when I clicked on 'new posts since last visit'.

Thanks; that makes it look like it could be feasible. If I build another LE, I'll try the idea, but my neighbor who's doing most of the construction on this one decided to just weld up a tank for the stock wing location.
