V3 propeller bolts
« on: October 17, 2026, 09:37:53 AM »
I was researching what propeller bolts I need and was curious what others have use on their Verner engines.

Since a longer thread area is inidated I doubt a typical AN bolt (8mmX1.25mm) would work.  Seems the grade 8 bolts at the hardware store would fit the bill though you never know the quality of these for sure, plus they have to be drilled out for safety wire.  What are you using on your 3V engines?

Not exactly a bolt question but related.  When removing the starter on a 3V is it necessary/recommended to use the aluminum backing plate?  I've a warp-drive that fits perfectly with the backing plate removed.  On the other hand the wood prop would need deeper holes to mount without the backing plate.  Not a problem.

True Value Aircraft Supply.  :) I don't know what grade. They looked ok under a 10 power glass, and the heads were easy enough to drill.
