That's a good way along with a time consuming FUS area and nice workmanship ! ! !

John: Would you like to take a 'spin' at this Joe Engelman Mod for the motor mount - attached .pdf?   Steve

Sure, it looks like a custom lower stud for a full case vw? Is someone interested in me making some prototypes?

JH

Hey Joe does the attached drawing do your sketch any justice? The blue part is the continental engine mount from the xl plans.

No guarantees, I am looking into it. I would really like to talk to the designer to get a feel for the purpose of the design. Is it M10 1.5 on one end to fit the vw case and 3/8-16 on the other end to change to standard hardware? Why the 0.480 step which requires altering the rubber mount?

What engine mounting bolts are used?  The Egleman Engineering phone number on the face book link is no longer in service.  I tried to call because I wanted to buy the engine mounting bolts.

The Continental engine mounts listed in the aircraft spruce catalog (P/N 530740) has 7 items listed as a kit.  Are all items needed or just the rubber mounts?  I tried to search the old web site for alternate parts listed there but found nothing.

Station 1 and motor mounts ready to be welded.

John, where did you get the info on the spools and spacers?  The photos of your parts look great.

Charles:
The XL plans have a little different drawing of the working mount and a notation the alum/nylon inner spool must move freely... Mike Pastor did the cross section for the LE noted here:

http://www.angoraaffaire.com/leu/id42.htm

Bob Severance has Photos of the parts he made too over on the yahoo group

Hope this helps,
Steve
