Just had a look at the spec sheet (Thanks for putting that together Mr Homan) and the BSV 35 is pretty heavy. I'm assuming that you'd have to build a LE or XL as an Experimental to use this engine, correct?

Yes, and no... depends 100%legal to plan yes,, I am making my ribs from carbon fiber,I think I should be legal weight with the 35 briggs, if not I will be legal with an added BRS IF I REMEMBER right that brings total leagle weight allowable to 279#

So for the BSV35 on the video Les mentioned that he didn’t lighten the engine. It is in the realm of possibility that making the engine lighter by swapping the heavy cast iron flywheel to a billet aluminum, removing the starter removing the stator (using a go kart starter motor handheld not attached) making a lighter weight intake and some other mods that it can be made light enough for part 103. This isn’t too far fetched. Additional weight could be shaved by swapping to aluminum valve covers and possibly shaving some other weight. This would however get rid of the charging system and the battery would have to be charged between flights.

All projects are light eating an elephant. You can only eat it, one bite at a time!
