Pushrod vs Cables

Hi All,
I read an article where an experienced builder (Sam Buchanan I think) used a pushrod instead of cables for the elevator.  The pushrod appeals to me due to the greatly reduced failure points vs the cable system, BUT I keep reading that one should not deviate from the plans......  Has anyone else done the Pushrod?  What size tubing should be used?  Thanks!

There's a search box in the upper right corner and a search menu item.  Sometimes you get different results depending on which one you use.  I'm rather certain the reason is the "default parameters" each one uses.

I typed in "pushrod controls" with the search in the header menu and got 2 hits...

Search for pushrods. I got 13 hits although some were about engine pushrods.

push/pull cables/rods tubes... searching is all about typing correct sequence of words. I want to try pex tubing(plumbing isle of hdepot), 1/2 inside of 5/8 for instance. hilbilly version of what may cost a grand if ordered online.
underground pex has better uv resisance yet still detierate.

Seems to me to be "much ado about nothing."  Unless a guy is doing push pull tubes for the ailerons, too.. (!) You already have everything to do the elevator cables. Yes, you *can* take all slop out of the elevator controls with push pull and ball bearings..I did that on the Pitts.. but you'll need a walking beam most likely. More weight and complexity than a couple of pulleys and some Piper fairleads. Does the Legal Eagle need that kind of precision? Uhh, no.
